On 29 November 2006, the government of the State of São Paulo in Brazil signed a concession agreement for the operation of passenger transportation services on Line 4 (the Yellow line) of the São Paulo metro system with the transportation concession company formed by Companhía de Concessões Rodoviárias S.A., Montgomery Participações, Benito Roggio Transporte S.A and RATP Développement S.A.
The concession agreement covers the supply of the rolling stock and of the signalling and control systems of the trains as well as operation and maintenance of the line, which is currently under construction, over a period of thirty years.
As a member of the Operating Assistance Group (OAG), RATP Développement, in partnership with the operator of the Buenos-Aires metro (Benito Roggio Transporte), will start work in 2007 preparing for the commissioning and operation of the line, which is scheduled for 2009.
Line 4 of the São Paulo metro will be 13 km (8 miles) long and will serve the main business centres of the city. It will run between Luz and Taboão da Serra with 11 stations, interchanges with three other metro lines and two suburban train lines. The new line, which has been planned with capacity for nearly a million passengers per day, will be the first fully automated metro line in Latin America.
