2007.03.05

RATP Développement, a 75% owned subsidiary of RATP, has just finalised its purchase of the Giraux Coaches Group, established in the French Departments of Yvelines, Val d’Oise and Eure-et-Loir.

The Giraux Coaches Group owns 300 vehicles and employs some 800 staff. In 2005, the company generated an annual turnover of 46 million euros.

The Group comprises:
One holding company, Giraux Transport and Services (GTS),
One vehicle rental company, Giraux Coaches which rents vehicles to the Group’s subsidiaries,
6 joint venture companies: > Giraux Val d’Oise (80 vehicles, annual turnover of 8,400 K€), > Giraux Eure-et-Loir (20 vehicles, annual turnover of 2,800 K€), > CTVMI - Mantes Inter-urban Passenger Transport Company (70% GTS, 30% Veolia, 100 vehicles, annual turnover of 8,700 K€), > TVM - Mantes Passenger Transport (66% GTS, 34% Veolia, 34 vehicles, annual turnover of 6,300 K€), > STIVO - Inter-urban Transport Company of Val d’Oise (50% GTS, 50% Lacroix Coaches, 102 vehicles, annual turnover of 24,900 K€), > TIMBUS - Inter-urban Transport of Magny-en-Vexin (50% GTS, 50% Lacroix Coaches, 30 vehicles, annual turnover of 5,400 K€).

The activity of the Group’s joint venture companies is based 85% on regular registered passenger transport services ; the remainder being made up of occasional re-employment services and services like Noctilien, the night bus service from 0.30am to 5.30am that was implemented by the Regional Council and Transport Syndicate of the Île-de-France Region.

RATP Développement has been particularly chosen for its project which is very much in keeping with the values of this family business, bearing in mind the expectations of the personnel and local authorities with regard to service, social dialogue and constructive work with the Organising Authorities.

With the acquisition of Giraux Coaches, following that of Perrier Coaches in June 2005, RATP is consolidating its establishment in the outer suburbs and greater Paris Basin area which constitutes a strong line of development as from now on it is also present in the agglomerations of Cergy-Pontoise and St Quentin-en-Yvelines. This acquisition is in compliance with the commitments presented last October by CEO, Pierre Mongin who insists the development must become the project of the whole company and will thus be promoted before all else in the Île-de-France Region where there is still a considerable need for it. RATP will be bringing all of its expertise to its partners for future investment choices.
