An automatic metro to reach Orly airport
RATP Développement ensures the management of the automatic shuttle Orlyval, brought into service in 1991, with the aim of improving the transport service of Orly airport, in Parisian suburbs.
A reliable and rapid method of transport
This line links both terminals Orly Sud and Orly Ouest to the RER station Antony on line B, which provides rapid access to the centre of Paris and the entire regional transport network. The two-carriage trains are simple and flexible to operate. Orlyval offers a rapid, efficient and reliable alternative to other transport using he often crowded road-system.
User confidence and satisfaction
Since 1991, RATP Développement has developed several actions to improve service quality. The first result of this work is the NF Service certification "service de transport urbain de voyageurs" (urban passenger transport service) in 1999. Two years later, the operating hours were increased, and presently shuttles run between 6 am and 11 pm, every day.
Parallel to this, RATP Développement has improved access to sales outlets for users. The public sales offices have been equipped with point-of-sale terminals and all the automatic ticket machines have been updated.
The result is manifest: from 2 million in 2000, the amount of passengers Orlyval transports each year has increased to 2,7 million in 2005. This rise is mainly due to the reliability and regularity of the service, as well as the comfort passengers are able to enjoy.
