Mobicite, innovative solutions for community transport
Created in 2002, this subsidiary of RATP Développement was created to respond to demands from local communities regarding short distance transport and services on request.
New modes of mobility to complete existing services
Mobicité provides local communities with innovative transport services specifically adapted to small travel flows. These new services namely aim to promote alternatives to individual cars and to complete regular public transport by responding to a large range of travel requirements:
- local shuttles or urban transport services operating like regular lines;
- collective taxis providing transport on request.
Mobicité uses clean and small-sized vehicles, accessible to disabled people. These services allow to both stimulate the urban fabric, and by reducing traffic, to diminishing traffic impact on the environment (particularly in town centers).
Considerate and customized service
All Mobicité staff receives “considerate service” training focused on guaranteeing high quality service. On certain locations, the drivers - that are both considerate and polyvalent, are trained to assist passengers getting in and out of the vehicles and to help them with any luggage. They are also able to inform clients about town-center facilities, neighborhoods they cross and various events (culture, sport, etc.).
In each town, the staff is supervised by a location manager familiar with Mobicité training and experience, able to efficiently organize this kind of service.
Present in many parts of France
Transport on request Transport on request, resembling taxi service, able to operate 7 days a week either for specific passengers, or for all inhabitants of a commune. A few references: the “Taco” service in Montreuil (Seine-Saint-Denis); shuttle service for spa patients in Royat (Puy-de-Dôme)
Internal shuttles Mobicité provides companies or very active industrial or economic zones with shuttles connecting strategic points. A few references: Aubervilliers (Seine-Saint-Denis) on the EMGP site; a “business” shuttle connecting the Cap Ampère center and SNCF station at Saint-Denis (in Seine-Saint-Denis); service for the Marseille Euroméditerranée center (Bouches-du-Rhône)
Seasonal services During peak periods, to keep up with the flow of tourists, Mobicité offers local communities “made-to-measure” transport services (shuttles linking the beach, town-center, markets and resorts for instance). These services are image vehicles and increase the attraction of locations providing them. A few references: reinforced car park / TGV station connection in Montpellier (Hérault); shuttle service linking the town center, shops and campsites in Notre-Dame-des-Monts (Vendée); summer shuttle service in the center of Carcassonne (Aude)
Experimental services In order to allow local communities to truly measure the value of their transport project, Mobicité offers to “test” certain routes or circuits before implementing them permanently. A few references: Aix-en-Provence (Bouches-du-Rhône) year-round service in Aix-en-Provence city center (Bouches-du-Rhône); experimental service to complete the existing network in Nantes (Loire-Atlantique).
