RATP Développement shares its know-how with La Ferroviaria Italiana

La Ferroviaria Italiana (LFI) is an Italian company created at the beginning of the XXth century. It operates several coach lines around Arezzo, in Tuscany, in the center of Italy. LFI also operates the two regional rail lines, Arezzo-Stia to the north and Arezzo-Sinalunga to the south.

In 2004, the company decided to open its capital through an operating partnership in order to increase:
- its capacity to modernize the rail activity
- the integration of its regional transport service in Tuscany

Investing company ALEXA, presided by RATP Développement - its main shareholder - brings together most of the major public and private operators in Tuscany. It bought 30% of LFI’s capital and manages the company.

Renovation and modernization of the network

Following ALEXA’s involvement, the company’s assets were split into two, rail activity and coach activity, in order to improve global management.

LFI is also reorganizing the rail operation, since it has launched new trains and built a modern workshop.
