Ratp Dev is a member of the consortium selected to build and operate the first driverless automated line in South America, Sao Paulo metro line 4.

In November 2006, the Sao Paulo state government signed a contract to carry out the operating services for Sao Paulo metro line 4, a yellow line with the concessionary set-up of Companhía de Concessões Rodoviárias S.A., Montgomery Participações, Benito Roggio Transporte S.A., and RATP Dev S.A.

The PPP (Private Public Partnership) contract includes the delivery of the rolling stock, ATC systems, and the provision of line operations and maintenance for a 30-year period. The 13-km long line with 13 stations was planned to carry up to one million passengers a day with 29 six-car sets.

As a partner of the concessionary consortium, Ratp Dev is bringing its expertise in commissioning and operating automated systems. Ratp Dev and Buenos-Aires metro operator Benito Roggio Transporte will also set up the entire operating organisation and put the line in commercial service.
